2016: 29 Days Until Camp Opens

With less than a calendar month to go before baseball begins to smell new again we wanted to spend each day going through some of the best performances in 2016. Using game WPA for 15 starting pitcher and hitter performances we hope to be able to take you on a trip down memory lane each day. 

#30Jake Odorizzi on May 24th vs the Marlins

#29 – Evan Longoria on June 14th vs the Mariners

The Rays were in an early four-run hole in this contest after the Mariners sent eight men to the plate against Jake Odorizzi in the second inning. The game was 7-4 after the 7th inning stretch as Scott Servais went to his bullpen to bring in Nick Vincent to face a stretch of mostly righties. He retired Jennings, allowed a single to Curt Casali, struck out Logan Forsythe before walking Brad Miller to set the table for this:

The Rays went on to win the game 8-7, which was their penultimate win before the disastrous losing streak that began when yours truly went to his first home game of the season and did not end until 11 games later.
