Scout Talks Andrew Toles | The Process Report

Scout Talks Andrew Toles

In this week’s edition of Baseball ProspectusWhat Scouts Are Saying series, a talent evaluator discussed Andrew Toles.

Tampa Bay’s third-round pick in 2012, Toles has played the year out in Bowling Green. “He’s a throwback leadoff hitter,” the scout said. “No batting gloves, likes to hit, and plus-plus speed with willingness to swipe a bag at any time.” True to form, Toles has swiped 62 bases this season on 79 attempts. The scout voiced concerns about the speedy center fielder’s swing while praising his barrel awareness—aspects of Toles’ game we’ve heard about before. Still, the scout said Toles “could become an impact middle-of-the-diamond player.”
