Strengths (2009-2013):

  • His .367 wOBA against all pitching is in the top five percent of all qualifying batters
  • His .393 wOBA against lefties is one of the 15 best in the league. It is higher than the wOBA’s of Adrian Beltre, Jose Bautista, and Edwin Encarnacion
  • His swing and miss rate against all pitchers is in the top 25th percentile
  • His chase rate against all pitchers is in the top 25th percentile
  • Has just a four-point split in his home/road wOBA (.365/.369)
  • Has a 75% success rate in his stolen base attempts

Weaknesses (2009-2013):

  • Has a 36 point split in his wOBA versus RH/LH (.357/.393)
  • His 24.6% swing and miss rate vs RH pitching is in the bottom 25th percentile
  • His 20.4% strikeout rate against RH pitching is near the bottom third of the league
  • Has hit into 83 double plays; one of the 20 worst totals and higher than the likes of Prince Fielder, Torii Hunter, and Pablo Sandoval.
  • His batting average (.246) and on base percentage (.305) against cut fastballs are both in the bottom 50th percentile
