Game #123 Lineups and Outlook
The hated Red Sox come to town to face a Rays team that can’t lose. Too little, too late, but it’s still nice to take a series from these shitbags. My guess is that today will not be the day, though:
The Rays do not have very much going for them against Price today, while the Red Sox look like a team that cannot be stopped no matter how many times you say no. The model likes them even more than the gamblers who likely have some emotional bias regarding their ace David Price’s “struggles” of late. The model doesn’t know about that, of course. I think there is good value in going with the Red Sox today. puke
I’m now attempting to incorporate overall bullpen effectiveness into the model so there may be an adjustment period, though it’s more of a shift than a hard pull in either direction. You can see some of this in the new and improved Bullpen Report below:
For expected team wOBA I’m only using the average of the nine starters versus each of the bullpen potentialities, which might be something I tweak later on. For now I think this gives a much better idea of where the strengths and weaknesses lie.
