Game #130 Lineups and Outlook
What a thumping the boys put on the Astros yesterday as Matt Duffy got his first homer as a Ray and Big Swingin’ did that thing he do to break it wide open. Oh and guy that should have problem played a lot more this year, Nick Cranklin, also bagged a pelt. This is starting to feel a lot like last season where the Rays flat out mashed in September after it stopped mattering. Unfortunately, winning games right now would be a bad thing. Here’s hoping the failpen continues to be the flood that overwhelms the dam.
The model likes the Red Sox as a strong favorite today, but the degens like them even more. As such, I think there is some value in playing the Rays today. If Andriese can limit the damage from their 3-4 hitters then he’s got a solid shot at pitching deep into the game today. The Rays best threat looks like Brad Miller, though Big Swingin’ ain’t far behind. Poochie has pitched pretty well against the Rays this year with four previous starts to his name.
The Rays will have a deadspot on the 25-man for the next couple of days as Alex Cobb needed to be called up despite his rotation day being a few away. Seems like something that could have been planned better, but it’s ultimately a #whocares in a lost season. The Red Sox will roll with the full bench and a bullpen that profiles as a strength on paper. Of course everyone knows that communism looks good on paper, too.
