Game #77 Lineups and Outlook
The Rays got a headstart on their newest losing streak with a thorough beating yesterday. Archie wasn’t great, but he wasn’t horrific and the offense didn’t show up despite some early chances. Today’s tilt will feature former Ray David Price (boooooooo) and Matt Moore (yay?). This one starts at 12:10 so plan on a long lunch.
The model and the gamblers agree that the Red Sox should be a heavy favorite today and it comes on both fronts. Price looks like a tough matchup for the Rays batters, but Matt Moore equally has a tough row to hoe. He has looked better of late, but even the good version has struggled third time through the order. All those righties at the top of the lineup are already licking their chops.
While the Red Sox boast a solid lineup top to bottom this is as good as it gets for them, because that bench is miserable. The Rays version looks pretty strong today provided they can get Price out early enough to take advantage later in the game. Knocking Porcello out when they had him on the ropes doubly hurts, because he collected himself and was able to pitch deep into the game leaving several good relief options. The Rays cannot make that boast.
This one could get ugly, but boy would it be something to raise hell against David Price today.
