Game #82 Lineups and Outlook
With the Los Angeles Angels coming to town the Rays will get the rare chance to bury one of their primary rivals for the first overall pick next year. The Angels are a mess. The Angels are pathetic. The Angels have essentially the same record as the Rays losing one more game in one more opportunity. #TransitiveProperty Today’s game will feature the resurgent Matt Moore and Nick Tropeano.
It looks like today will basically be a coin flip with both the model and the gamblers in full agreement that they’re not sure who is going to win. That Mike Trout guy is pretty good, and he’ll get a little bit of help from his mates, but this is mostly a one-man team. And that man happens to have the best name in baseball. Jett Bandy. Just say it. It’s incredible. It’s your childhood fantasies come to life. Jett Bandy. The Rays wish they had a catcher with half the name. Jett Bandy.
The Angels feature a couple of shutdown guys at the back end and then a whole bunch of mishmash. They’re pretty similar to the Rays except they feature a couple of shutdown guys at the back end. If you’re finding it hard to keep watching this team you’re not alone. For your sanity I would advise keeping your viewing habits to merely the first five innings. However, on America’s birthday I’d highly recommend doing something fun instead. Go Rays!
