For all relievers that threw at least 2500 pitches from 2009-2011 (sample size = 85)

Strengths (2009-2011):

  • His 26.6% Swing and Miss% is in the top 25th percentile
  • His 30.1% Chase% is in the top 30th percentile
  • His 64.6% Strike% is in the top 30th percentile
  • Has limited batters to a .210/.227/.290 slash line against his changeup, allowing just 2 home runs out of 1056 pitches
  • Is rather split neutral; there is just a one point gap in his batting average against righties and lefties and a nine point gap in his wOBA against them

Weaknesses (2009-2011):

  • His home run rate is one of the lowest in the sample size and he allowed the 7th-most home runs despite a better than average home run to fly ball ratio
  • Works best when he is ahead in the count; batter have hit .364/.528/.746 against him when they are up in the count but just .178/.180/.235 when they are down in the count
  • Is exclusively fastball/changeup against lefties; threw just 15 breaking balls to them over the three-year period
  • His .304 wOBA opponents’ wOBA is in the bottom 30th percentile
  • His opponents’ SLG% is in the bottom 20th percentile
