Rays Nearly Settled on Final 25

We’ve covered every man and every battle in camp at some point or another so I’ll spare repeating the same things we’ve already said before. With the latest rounds of cuts (Cory Wade, Rob Delaney, Casey Kotchman, and Felipe Lopez), the 25-man roster is set barring a trade/waiver claim or injury. Congrats to Sam Fuld, Elliot Johnson, Juan Cruz, Jake McGee, and other who have made the club.

A few procedural moves like placing J.P. Howell on the DL and giving Cesar Cabral‘s 40-man spot to Juan Cruz will be made over the next few days. Be sure Andrew Friedman will be monitoring the waiver wire over the next few days, but with the Rays being toward the end of list, the action may not be as heavy as some would expect. If you want further coverage on the cuts, I have some more in-depth looks over at ESPN1040.com

Russell 620IP in minors 3.9 ERA- Triple AAA 2010 Portland 4.88ERA-this spring worse -Why was Russell a lock- Wade-Deleany – Gomes will be up soon unless Russell somehow finds it-might have best arm in bullpen but so far I’d have to say he can’t locate and needs to be in AAA until he proves he can pitch at that level

His San Diego Triple-A numbers come in the Pacific Coast League, which is renowned for its offensive friendliness.

As for spring stats, those really shouldn’t be looked at.
