Rays Sign Ali Solis, Others

Baseball America has released its minor-league free-agent tracker for the winter.

Thus far, the Rays have mostly re-signed their own, including Victor Mateo, Albert Suarez, and Mayobanex Acosta. Among the departed are Mark Thomas (Diamondbacks), Wilking Rodriguez (Royals), and Jason Bourgeois (Reds).

One noteworthy external addition is Ali Solis, who played in the majors with the Padres in 2012. He’s not much of a hitter, and he’s likely to split time between the upper minors, but he’s a quality receiver.
