Rays Sign Neil Wagner

The Rays have signed right-handed reliever Neil Wagner to a two-year minor-league deal, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.

Wagner underwent Tommy John surgery in August, meaning he’ll have limited availability next season. Provided he makes a full recovery, he should compete for a bullpen gig in 2016. The power-armed Wagner, whose fastball can touch into the upper-90s, saw his big break come last season, just months after ditching his curveball for a slider. He went on to appear in 46 games for the Blue Jays, compiling a 4.69 ERA and 2.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
