Rays Trade Dane De La Rosa to the Angels for Steve Geltz

The Rays have swapped minor-league right-handed relievers with the Angels, sending Dane De La Rosa westward and acquiring the recently outrighted Steve Geltz.

Geltz is authoring a nice story. Originally undrafted from the University of Buffalo, Geltz has produced some eye-popping numbers in the minors. The undersized Geltz has a herky-jerky delivery, resulting in poor command and control, and he’s an extreme flyball pitcher. Geltz’s main pitch is a low-to-mid-90s fastball with plenty of movement, while a slider is his top secondary offering.

Look for Geltz, who made his big-league debut against the Rays last year, to join the Durham bullpen.
